Indians signed LHP Chris Seddon to a minor league contract.
The deal comes with an invitation to spring training, but Seddon doesn’t stand much of a chance of cracking the Indians’ Opening Day roster. He posted a 6.27 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 149 1/3 innings last year at Triple-A.

The Indians are expected to call up left-hander Chris Seddon to start Sunday against the Tigers.
Seddon has a 3.44 ERA and 108/27 K/BB ratio in 123 innings over 20 starts with Triple-A Columbus this season. The 28-year-old lefty has a 7.03 ERA over 39 2/3 innings in the big leagues and hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2010 as a member of the Mariners. He can’t be trusted in fantasy leagues.

Indians purchased the contract of LHP Chris Seddon from Triple-A Columbus.
The 28-year-old journeyman has put up a 3.44 ERA and 108/27 K/BB ratio in 123 innings over 20 starts with Columbus this season. He’ll get the ball Sunday against the Tigers before likely being sent right back down. Seddon can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Chris Seddon turned in a quality start in Friday’s loss to the Red Sox, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits over his six innings.
Seddon fanned three while walking two in the game. Cody Ross’ two-run homer in the sixth inning was the critical blow in the game, breaking a 1-1 tie. Even with the decent start, Seddon remains an uninspiring option in most fantasy formats. He’ll take an 0-1 record and 5.06 ERA into Anaheim where he’ll square off against the Angels on Wednesday.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #32
Roberto Hernandez -- formerly known as Fausto Carmona -- will make his season debut on Wednesday, getting the start against the Angels.
Indians skipper Manny Acta made the announcement on Saturday. Hernandez pitched very well in his final rehab start Friday with Triple-A Columbus and may be worth a try in deeper mixed leagues down the stretch if he shows positive signs early on and gets good matchups. He is likely to replace Chris Seddon in the Indians’ rotation.

Indians designated LHP Chris Seddon for assignment.
The roster spot was cleared in order to make room for Mike McDade. Seddon put up a 3.67 ERA over 17 appearances for the Indians this season.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher
    Indians non-tendered LHP Chris Seddon.
Seddon was designated for assignment earlier in the day Friday, but he’s now a free agent. The 29-year-old southpaw had a 3.67 ERA over 17 appearances with the Indians this past season.

Devil Rays purchased the contracts of LHP Chris Seddon, RHP Jason Hammel, RHP Brian Stokes.
The Rays’ best prospects are already on the 40-man roster or don’t yet need to go on. Seddon is the best bet of this group, but he doesn’t look like anything more than a fourth or fifth starter.

Chris Seddon has agreed to a contract with the SK Wyverns of the Korean Baseball Organization.
Seddon was non-tendered by the Indians near the end of November after posting an underwhelming 1.40 WHIP and 18/13 K/BB ratio across 34 1/3 relief innings in 2012.

Chris Seddon allowed four runs -- two earned -- in four innings yesterday in his debut for Triple-A Durham.
Seddon was 6-1 with a 4.82 ERA, 56 H and 46/20 K/BB in 52 1/3 IP for Double-A Montgomery, so the Rays hardly waited until he mastered the level to promote him. Seddon will probably spend some time in Tampa Bay’s rotation this season. He’s not much of a fantasy prospect.
