Rays signed INF C.J. Hinojosa to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.
Hinojosa spent all of 2023 at Triple-A in the Marlins organization, slashing .244/.284/.357 with seven home runs and five steals in 360 plate appearances. The 29-year-old played primarily shortstop and third base and will likely act as versatile organizational depth for the Rays.

Marlins signed INF C.J. Hinojosa to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 28-year-old has bounced around in the minor leagues for seven seasons now and has yet to break through to the big leagues. He’ll look to change that with the Marlins. He was terrific at Triple-A El Paso in 2022 -- slashing .291/.359/.482with 17 homers, 83 RBI and eight stolen bases in 122 ballgames.

Padres reassigned OF Nomar Mazara, INF C.J. Hinojosa and LHP Travis Bergen to Triple-A El Paso.
Mazara and Hinojosa were in contention to make the Padres’ Opening Day roster in reserve roles. Their departure only seems to increase the likelihood that CJ Abrams is on San Diego’s season-opening roster. This is going to be really interesting, folks.

Padres signed INF C.J. Hinojosa to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Hinojosa, 27, played 104 games for Triple-A Sugar Land, and he slashed .316/.351/.481 with 11 homers over 443 plate appearances. He’ll get a chance to win one of the last roster spots for the Padres, but more than likely is going to spend most -- if not all -- of his time in Triple-A.

Hinojosa, 26, spent last year playing in the independent Constellation Energy League and slashed just .222/.306/.302 in 22 games. He is a native of Houston and went to the University of Texas at Austin.

Brewers acquired SS C.J. Hinojosa from the Giants for C Erik Kratz.
Hinojosa, 24, hit .265/.330/.358 with three homers between High- and Double-A last season. He’s a non-prospect.

Giants SS prospect C.J. Hinojosa blasted three hits in Tuesday’s win for Low-A Salem-Keizer.
Hinojosa fell a triple shy of the cycle. He’s hit .480 during his six-game hitting streak. His average has climbed 38 points in that span. Hinojosa is tied for the league lead with 15 doubles. The 21-year-old has struck out only 13 times in 153 at-bats this season. He’a also drawn just seven walks, which is why his on base percentage sits at a disappointing .319.
