    Cody Decker has retired from baseball.
    And he went out in fine fashion, slugging a walk-off home run in Triple-A Reno’s win over Triple-A Sacramento on Friday night. It was the final plate appearance of his career. Decker, 32, played in just eight games at the major league level, all with the Padres in 2015. He logged 3,843 plate appearances in the minors.

    Decker, 30, played for Israel in the World Baseball Classic and was also with the Brewers in spring training before being released. He hit just .230/.284/.484 in the minors last season and is merely a depth guy.

    Padres first base prospect Cody Decker belted a pair of homers Sunday in a win for Triple-A El Paso.
    Decker finished with six RBI, padding his season total to 31. The 28-year-old is fourth in the Pacific Coast League in homers (10), sixth in RBI and seventh in slugging percentage (.581). Decker also posted two homers and six RBI May 8 in a win against Las Vegas. Sunday was Decker’s 13th career multi-home run game. He’s hitting .304 in May after batting just .229 in April.

    Decker reliever first baseman Yonder Alonso and took journeyman Joe Paterson deep in his only at-bat. The 28-year-old is nothing more than organization depth for the Padres despite some nice power.
