Castro

Castro, 26, has spent the entire 2019 season in the Dodgers’ minor league system and was batting .241/.304/.295 in 185 plate appearances at Triple-A. But he is about seven years younger than the 33-year-old Negron.

The defensive-minded Castro is just a .210/.240/.265 career hitter over parts of three seasons in the majors. He’s merely a depth piece.

Castro, who turns 26 in a few weeks, lost his 40-man roster spot with the Rockies back in July. He’s a glove-first utility infielder who will merely be a depth signing this offseason.

Castro was only in the majors for a couple of days this time. He is a .207/.239/.258 career hitter.

The Braves did not have an extra-base hit on the afternoon and managed just six singles for the game. Two of those came courtesy of Castro. The 23-year-old second baseman has done almost nothing with his 94 at-bats this season, slashing just .213/.245/.223 with a double and four RBI in that space. Avoid avoid avoid in all fantasy formats.

Castro has hit just .207/.239/.258 in the majors the last two seasons. He’ll backup all over the infield.

He’s clearing room for the return of Erick Aybar (foot). Castro has hit an ugly .182/.220/.190 across 128 plate appearances this season.

He’s now off the 40-man roster. Castro is a career .217/.250/.265 hitter at the big league level.

Castro has hit only .207/.239/.258 during his time in the majors. He’ll function as a utility infielder.

Obviously he won’t be starting against Pittsburgh in the series finale. The Braves own the NL’s worst record by a wide margin and aren’t getting any breaks right now, even in the lunch room. Daniel Castro will get the nod at shortstop on Thursday night. Aybar is day-to-day.
