    Mariners released RHP Dauris Valdez.
Valdez was signed to a minor league contract in December, but Seattle must not have liked what they saw from the 29-year-old over the spring session. He’s now free to join a new organzation.

Mariners signed RHP Dauris Valdez to a minor league contract.
The 29-year-old hurler hasn’t pitched in affiliated ball since the 2022 season. He resurfaced with the Caneros de los Mochis in the Mexican Pacific Winter League where he has posted a 5.06 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and a 4/5 K/BB ratio in his 5 1/3 innings of work. He’ll add organizational bullpen depth for the M’s.

Cubs acquired RHP Dauris Valdez from the Padres for RHP James Norwood.
Norwood was designated for assignment last week, so the Cubs were at least able to get something in return. Valdez, 25, last pitched in 2019 at the Double-A level, posting a 4.23 ERA and 68/28 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 relief innings.
