2002 first-round pick Drew Meyer will probably start the conversion to center field in the Fall Instructional League.
Meyer has played shortstop since being drafted, but the Rangers already have some guy named Rodriguez.

Rangers promoted 2002 first-round pick Drew Meyer to Double-A Frisco Thursday.
Meyer was 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in his debut with Frisco. At Single-A Stockton, Meyer, a defensive whiz, hit .281 with five homers, 53 RBI, and 92/32 K/BB. He also led the club with nine triples and 24 stolen bases.

Rangers optioned infielder Drew Meyer to Triple-A Oklahoma.
Meyer hadn’t gotten into a game since May 9, so this was overdue. He went 3-for-14 with an 8/0 K/BB ratio in nearly five weeks with the Rangers.

Drew Meyer went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored for Double-A Frisco yesterday.
Meyer is hitting .313 in the Texas League, but it’s not a very good .313. With no home runs among his 13 extra-base hits and just 17 walks in 211 at-bats, his OPS stands at 750. Teams probably don’t regret passing on the 2002 first-round pick when he was available in the December Rule 5 draft.

Drew Meyer went 2-for-3 yesterday in his second game in the Arizona Fall League.
Meyer replaced Ramon Nivar on the Saguaros when Nivar returned home last week. The 2002 first-round pick is making the switch to center field this fall after spending his first two years at shortstop. He doesn’t have a ton of offensive upside, but he could develop into a decent regular in two or three years.

Drew Meyer went 2-for-5 with the Rookie AZL Rangers yesterday in his first game back from a shoulder injury.
Meyer, a 2002 first-round pick, missed two months with a sprain. He should rejoin Double-A Frisco next week.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman
Drew Meyer, who started working out in center field in the Arizona Fall League, is set to remain a shortstop following the Alex Rodriguez trade.
Assuming that Alfonso Soriano isn’t in Texas for the long run, Meyer, a 2002 first-round pick, could be a candidate to push Michael Young back to second base in 2006.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman
Rangers designated infielder Drew Meyer for assignment.
Meyer, a bust after being drafted in the first round in 2002, hit .228/.278/.305 in 364 at-bats for Triple-A Oklahoma last season. He’ll go unclaimed on waivers.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman
Rangers sent infielder Drew Meyer outright to Triple-A Oklahoma.
The 2002 first-round pick was designated for assignment 10 days ago. He’ll remain in the organization and report to major league camp as a non-roster player.
