National selected IMG Academy (FL) OF Elijah Green with the fifth pick of the 2022 MLB Draft.
Green is one of the most intriguing athletes in the class, and is the son of former tight end Eric Green. The calling-card here is his power/speed combination, and he’s also likely to be a strong defensive player; be it in center or a corner position. The question mark here is the hit tool, as his long swing means it’s likely he’ll strike out a good deal. There’s a little more risk here than with some of the other elite prep bats in the class, but his reward competes with any player outside of Druw Jones. He could be a 30/30 player in a few years.
