Cardinals released outfielder Emil Brown from Triple-A Memphis.
Brown was batting .281/.349/.333 for Memphis. He’ll join another Triple-A club soon.

Emil Brown has been moved into the leadoff spot for today’s game. David DeJesus is batting second, and Chip Ambres is hitting fifth agaisnt lefty Jamie Moyer.
Brown is batting .253 with a .289 OBP since the beginning of July. We doubt this will help.

Emil Brown had a solo homer off Rudy Seanez and a two-run single in Tuesday’s win over the Red Sox.
Brown’s OPS is up more than 100 points since the All-Star break, something that should help him stay in the lineup with Mike Sweeney back. Joey Gathright might be the odd man out more often than not.

Emil Brown finished with three hits and three RBI Friday against the Astros.
Brown hasn’t been any good against right-handers this season, but the Royals seem to be no closer to dropping him into a platoon role than they were on Opening Day. Unless another team wants to overpay for him next month, it looks like he’ll be a regular for the Royals’ all season long.

Emil Brown should get fewer at-bats with the Royals acquiring Joey Gathright to play center field.
Brown should play over Gathright versus left-handers. He might also DH some against right-handers, though he’s downgrade from Matt Stairs there. Brown had a 752 OPS against righties last year and is at 727 this season.

Emil Brown went 3-for-4 with an RBI in a 6-5 loss to the Yankees on Sunday.
Brown had a nice game at the plate, but he was also thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple with two outs and the Royals down 5-0 in the second inning. It was a senseless move, and that the Royals ended up losing by just a run especially hurt. A victory today would have given the Royals their first road series win since August of last season.

Emil Brown was 2-for-4 with a run Tuesday.
He hit his career-best 34th double and scored a run. Brown is now 30-for-90 this month, and is starting to be of use in very deep mixed leagues as he’s batting .290 for the season.

Royals signed outfielder Emil Brown to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Brown played in just 45 games in the minors last season, batting .315/.372/.456. He’ll join the outfield at Triple-A Omaha.

Emil Brown singled in Denny Hocking in the bottom of the ninth today as the Royals edged the Twins 1-0.
Hocking singled off Matt Guerrier to start the inning and Chip Ambres reached on Terry Tiffee’s error. After Matt Stairs struck out, Brown singled into center to score Hocking and win the game. Brown, who struggled in July, hit .276 with 15 RBI during a decent month of August.

Emil Brown went 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBI against the Rangers today.
Brown hasn’t kept up the pace after an outstanding start in May and June, but he is batting .272 with four homers and 30 RBI in 52 games since. That makes him a quality regular as far as the Royals are concerned.
