This is the second time Hull has come up with an impressive outing against the dominant Surprise lineup. The 26-year-old isn’t considered much of a prospect, but he did finish with a 3.38 ERA and he struck out a batter an inning in 18 starts and nine relief appearances for Double-A Jacksonville this year. If he keeps turning in outings like this, some team might be intrigued enough to pluck him in the Rule 5 draft.

Hull was up briefly last month, but he never got into a game. The 27-year-old might get a chance to make his major league debut this time, though odds are that he’s in for another short stay.

Hull made one appearance in three days, throwing a scoreless inning Tuesday.

Hull, 27, had a 3.62 ERA and a 27/15 K/BB in 27 1/3 innings as a reliever for Las Vegas. The Dodgers could send him right back down tomorrow.

Hull had a 2.74 ERA in 49 relief appearances for Las Vegas. He’ll pitch in middle relief.

Hull didn’t get into a game during his four days with the Dodgers.

Hull gave up three runs in 3 1/3 innings. Scott Proctor replaces him in the Dodger pen.

Hull surrendered three runs in 3 1/3 innings during his last stint with the Dodgers. He may only be up until a fifth starter is recalled this weekend.

Hull put together a solid season in Triple-A Las Vegas in 2007, finishing with a 2.74 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 65 2/3 innings. He’s headed to extended spring training for now, but could see time in the Boston bullpen by the end of the year. Lara is a slick-fielding shortstop with great speed, but he’s never made it above Single-A ball in five professional seasons.

Hull had a 4.12 ERA in 54 2/3 innings at Triple-A this season. He’s nothing more than an average middle reliever.
