Cubs RHP prospect Erling Moreno threw six scoreless innings on Monday for Low-A South Bend.
Moreno did walk four, but he allowed just four hits and fanned four as well. Signed back in July of 2013, Moreno has seen his stock rise as a 21-year-old, and is now one of the better pitching prospects in the Chicago system. He has a plus fastball that touches 97 mph, and his slider and change are both competent offerings. The upside isn’t huge here, but Moreno is still young enough to expect improvement from. He could be a starter for Chicago in the next four-to-five years.
