If he doesn’t suffer a setback, Stanford will be activated from the DL and return to the rotation.

He is scheduled to throw 80 pitches, and then will join the Indians on the road next week. Stanford will likely be inserted into the rotation between May 13-15th.

It should be an interesting weekend for the Indians, who will have C.C. Sabathia and Stanford going back-to-back coming off injuries facing the Orioles.

He’s scheduled to throw another one Monday. The next step could be a minor-league rehab assignment. Stanford hasn’t pitched since straining his left elbow in a start against the Twins on April 15. If Stanford doesn’t have any setbacks, the Indians feel he may be able to rejoin the rotation in late August or September.

He is scheduled to throw again tomorrow. There is no timetable for Stanford’s return to action, although the Indians are hoping to activate him off the 60-day disabled list some time in September.

He pitched off a mound again yesterday and experienced no difficulties. Stanford will pitch in a simulated game or two, and then start a minor-league rehabilitation assignment. The Indians are hoping he can rejoin their pitching staff in September.

Stanford, 26, will probably only get one start before Cliff Lee is recalled to join the rotation.

Stanford was solid, but we’d still prefer to see Cliff Lee in the rotation. Expect it to happen.

Stanford is getting sent down even though he limited the White Sox to one run in six innings during the first game of today’s doubleheader. He was impressive in his two starts, so he could rejoin the Indians later this month. However, it’s likely that Cliff Lee will be called up to take over as Cleveland’s fifth starter.
