Martinez made just one relief appearance during his six-day stay in the major leagues. The righty will continue to provide organizational relief depth for the Snakes.

Martinez had a 4.42 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 18 1/3 innings this year at the Triple-A level. The right-hander will function as a middle reliever for the Diamondbacks.

Nick Piecoro says Martinez will be added to the 40-man roster, so evidently he’s getting a guaranteed deal. The 28-year-old posted a 4.04 ERA over 35 games -- 16 starts -- at Triple-A in the Indians organization in 2011. He’ll likely be used as a long man out of the bullpen and serve as rotation insurance.

He’s refused an outright assignment from the Diamondbacks and will now look to catch on elsewhere. Martinez, 29, holds an ugly 6.22 ERA over 50 2/3 career major league innings.

Martinez appeared in just one game for the D’Backs this season and was horrible in his time at Triple-A. He’ll have to pitch really well next spring to put himself in consideration for a roster spot.

Martinez refused an outright assignment from the Diamondbacks this offseason and will look to compete for a bullpen spot with the Indians. The deal includes an invite to spring training.

Martinez spent nearly all of last season at Triple-A with the Indians, posting a 5.26 ERA over 130 innings. He’s merely organizational depth.

Martinez, 31, posted a 5.82 ERA over parts of four seasons with four different teams. He had been with the Angels’ Triple-A affiliate, where he was hammered for 23 runs -- 20 earned -- over 11 innings.

Martinez was hit above his right eye by a liner off the bat of Mike Cameron. He was down for a couple of minutes and was clearly bleeding, but he was able to walk off under his own power. Hopefully, he’s just day-to-day.

“I’d be surprised if he’s not back pitching here in a month,” manager Bruce Bochy said. Martinez could rejoin the team as early as Monday.
