According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Frank Wren is unlikely to become the next general manager of the Red Sox.
Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski is reportedly looking for a replacement internally after general manager Mike Hazen recently left to become executive vice president and general manager of the Diamondbacks. Wren, who served as Braves general manager from 2007-2014, is said to be happy with his current position as Red Sox senior VP of baseball operations. It’s worth noting that he was mostly based out of Atlanta this season, so he may prefer to be close to home. Multiple reports indicate that Red Sox vice president of international and amateur scouting Amiel Sawdaye could be the most likely fit.
