The White Sox have left outfielder Jordan Danks and right-hander Terry Doyle off their 40-man roster, making them eligible for selection in the Rule 5 draft.
Danks, 25, is considered the best defensive outfielder in the White Sox’s organization and played 134 games for Triple-A Charlotte in 2011. Doyle split time between High-A and Double-A levels, where he combined to go 8-10 with a 3.07 ERA in 26 starts.

Jordan Danks picked up the first hit of his major league career in Friday’s loss to the Astros.
It’s a night that the younger brother of White Sox starter John Danks will never forget. He entered midway through the game after Dayan Viciedo left with tightness in both of his hamstrings. In his first major league at-bat, he grounded out to first base. Then leading off the eighth inning, after fighting off a pair of two-strike offerings from Wesley Wright, he lined a single into left field. Danks is likely with the big club on an interim basis and isn’t a factor in fantasy leagues. But it was a nice night.

Viciedo left Friday’s game with tightness in both of his hamstrings, and is considered day-to-day. Jordan Danks will make his first major league start in left field Saturday and bat eighth.

No word on the reason for the change, but De Aza did suffer a sprained left wrist in a collision with teammate Alexei Ramirez at the end of July. Jordan Danks is starting in his place Monday.
  • MIN Outfield #17
Alejandro De Aza is out of Monday’s lineup with back stiffness.
It’s safe to call him day-to-day. Jordan Danks will make the start in center field.

White Sox purchased the contract of OF Jordan Danks from Triple-A Charlotte.
Danks will provide depth in the Chicago outfield over the next few weeks while Kosuke Fukudome recovers from a back injury. The younger brother of John Danks doesn’t have a great track record of production in the minor leagues, but he’s been raking this season to the tune of a .934 OPS and is regarded as an excellent defender. He may have some value in AL-only fantasy leagues.
