José Ureña signed with the Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan.
Ureña played for five different teams in 2025, posting a 4.58 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and 34/23 K/BB ratio in 55 innings. The 34-year-old has pitched over 1,000 MLB innings and will head overseas for the start of the 2026 campaign.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #54
José Ureña surrendered one run in four innings Wednesday in a spot start against the Twins.
Ureña, making his second appearance for the Angels, was facing one of the three teams he previously pitched for this season. He has a 4.20 ERA in 45 innings for his four squads. He’ll likely head back to the bullpen now.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #59
José Soriano will not start Wednesday’s game against the Twins.
Soriano was scheduled for Wednesday’s bout against Minnesota, but the Angels will give him an extra day after he was awful Friday against the A’s with 2 1/3 innings of eight-run baseball. Jose Ureña will get the start with Soriano pushed back to Thursday against the Mariners.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #54
Angels signed RHP José Ureña to a one-year contract.
Someone has to soak up innings for Los Angeles over the final month of the season. Ureña will be pitching for his big-league record fifth different team this season when he gets into a game for the Angels after spending time with the Mets, Blue Jays, Dodgers and Twins.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #54
Twins RHP José Ureña elected free agency.
Ureña passed through waivers unclaimed after being jettisoned from Minnesota’s pitching staff over the weekend. The 33-year-old journeyman has pitched for four different organizations this season. His time with the Twins came to an end after he was torched for six runs over five innings last Thursday in a loss to the Athletics.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #54
Twins designated RHP José Ureña for assignment.
Ureña has been jettisoned from Minnesota’s pitching staff to clear space for prospect Mick Abel. The 33-year-old journeyman has pitched for four different organizations this season. He was torched for six runs over five innings on Thursday in a loss to the Athletics. The Twins are going to give some of their younger alternatives an opportunity over the final five weeks.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #54
José Ureña was torched for six runs over five innings on Thursday in a loss to the Athletics.
All of the damage against Ureña was somehow contained to a truly epic second-inning meltdown where he gave up run-scoring doubles to Lawrence Butler and Brent Rooker in addition to RBI singles to Darell Hernaiz and Carlos Cortes. He struck out three and issued two walks. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats until further notice.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #54
José Ureña delivered a very strong performance out of the Twins’ bullpen on Friday night, allowing just two hits and one walk over 5 2/3 innings of shutout baseball.
The 33-year-old right-hander came on to get the final two outs of the third inning after Pierson Ohl had surrendered seven runs, then stayed on to work through the eighth without giving up a run. He got seven swings and misses on 76 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 22 percent. He’ll be unable to work for the next four days or so and could even be a candidate to start next week instead of Pierson Ohl if they decide to go that route.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #54
José Ureña allowed one run over three innings Sunday in his start against the Royals.
Ureña walked four and threw 73 pitches — 36 of them strikes — to get his nine outs. He’ll probably start again versus the Tigers next weekend, but there’s certainly no fantasy value here.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #54
Jose Ureña allowed two runs in four innings and got a no-decision in the Twins’ 5-4 victory over the Guardians on Sunday.
Ureña started in place of Simeon Woods Richardson, who was scratched with an undisclosed injury. Ureña gave up five hits, walked one and struck out three. The 33-year-old right-hander is on his fourth team of the season, having previously appeared in games with the Mets, Blue Jays and Dodgers. Ureña can eat some innings, but isn’t fantasy-relevant at this point of his career even if he remains in the rotation.
