Giants signed RHP Josh Wolf to a minor league contract.
Wolf quickly found a new home in San Francisco’s system after being released last week by Cleveland. The 23-year-old righty was the Mets’ second-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft and was one of the ancillary components of the Francisco Lindor trade prior to the 2021 campaign.

Indians RHP prospect Josh Wolf struck out three over four scoreless innings for Low-A Lynchburg.
Wolf, 20, allowed just two hits in the contest, and he issued a single walk. Acquired in the deal that sent Francisco Lindor to New York in January, the right-hander has been shaky thus far in his first season in the Cleveland system with a 4.66 ERA, but it’s been over a total of 19 1/3 innings as he’s being treated with kid gloves. The 53rd pick of the 2019 draft, Wolf has two plus pitches potentially in his fastball and curve, and he he can mix in a cutter/slider and change that get solid grades, as well. There’s a lot of work to be done, but Cleveland has developed this type of prospect very well in the past, and he could be a member of that rotation in the next couple of seasons.

Indians acquired RHP Josh Wolf, INF Andres Gimenez, INF Amed Rosario, and OF Hunter Greene from the Mets for SS Francisco Lindor and RHP Carlos Carrasco
A second-round pick (53rd overall) in the 2019 MLB Draft out of St. Thomas High School in Houston, Texas, Wolf has logged only eight career professional innings at this point. But the 20-year-old right-hander possesses a fairly well-developed four-pitched arsenal, including a fastball that has been clocked in the high-90s. He should continue to work as a starter in the Indians’ minor league system and could move up rather quickly. This is the type of profile that Cleveland has developed exceptionally well in the past.
