Blue Jays acquired RHPs Juan De Paula and Derek Law and INF Alen Hanson from the Giants for OF Kevin Pillar.
While not a top prospect, De Paula is the most interesting name of the deal for Toronto. Acquired as part of the Andrew McCutchen deal with the Yankees last summer, the 21-year-old put up a 1.72 ERA with 55 strikeouts and 27 walks over 52 1/3 innings between Low-A and Class A last year. With the Jays shedding a player as they look toward the future, it’s worth taking a chance on his upside.
