Blue Jays acquired RHPs Juan De Paula and Derek Law and INF Alen Hanson from the Giants for OF Kevin Pillar.
While not a top prospect, De Paula is the most interesting name of the deal for Toronto. Acquired as part of the Andrew McCutchen deal with the Yankees last summer, the 21-year-old put up a 1.72 ERA with 55 strikeouts and 27 walks over 52 1/3 innings between Low-A and Class A last year. With the Jays shedding a player as they look toward the future, it’s worth taking a chance on his upside.

Yankees acquired RHP Juan De Paula and RHP Jio Orozco from the Mariners for OF Ben Gamel.
The Bombers won’t be seeing De Paula for a few years, as he was still in rookie ball at the time of the trade. The 18-year-old right-hander held a 3.07 ERA and 53/11 K/BB ratio in 41 innings at that lower level.

Giants acquired RHP Juan De Paula and INF Abital Avelino from the Yankees for OF Andrew McCutchen and cash.
De Paula, 20, has posted a 1.71 ERA and 46/26 K/BB ratio across 47 1/3 innings in Short-Season ball this season. He was ranked by MLB.com as the Yankees’ No. 26 prospect.
