Duran repeated 2013 with Bakersfield, showing improvement across the board, including a 120-point increase in OPS. He cut down on strikeouts while increasing his walks and home runs. The 22-year-old is now on the Reds’ 40-man roster and climbing closer to the majors.

Duran’s PED suspension is over, but he’s now been removed from the 40-man roster. He batted just .256/.290/.438 with six home runs over 238 plate appearances at Pensacola last season.

Duran picked up just one hit in 15 at-bats this spring. The 22-year-old will be getting his first taste of Double-A in 2014.

Duran is part of the first wave of cuts in Reds’ camp. The 23-year-old outfielder hit .243/.297/.464 with 17 home runs and 51 RBI across 100 games in Double-A last year.

That’s quite the cocktail of performance-enhancers. Duran, 24, is on the Reds’ 40-man roster but has yet to reach the majors. He batted just .256/.290/.438 with six home runs over 238 plate appearances at Double-A last season.
