Minaya made six relief appearances last season for the Twins, allowing six runs on eight hits with an 11/5 K/BB ratio across 9 2/3 innings. The 32-year-old veteran journeyman provides the Pirates with some extra organizational relief depth heading into the 2023 campaign. It wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him get the call to Pittsburgh at some point this season.

The right-hander latched on with the Nationals back in September, but never received a promotion to the big league club after he had compiled a 5.59 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and and 11/5 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings with the Twins. The 31-year-old will likely have to settle for a minor league deal with a spring training invite this winter.

Minaya has joined Triple-A Rochester. The right-hander was released by the Twins earlier this month after making six appearances to the tune of a 5.59 ERA. He’ll need to be added to the 40-man roster in order to receive a call-up to the Nats before the season ends.

Minaya was released by the Twins earlier this week, but the two sides have opted to re-unite on a similar minor league deal, likely for the remainder of the season. The 31-year-old veteran reliever made six appearances earlier this season for the Twins.

Minaya signed a minor league contract with the Twins back in March and made six relief appearances this season in the majors before being designated for assignment back in early July. The 31-year-old veteran righty has gotten into 160 games in the big leagues since 2016.

Minaya had the option of electing free agency after the Twins designated him for assignment on Monday, but he will remain part of the organization for now. The righty has a 5.59 ERA in 9 2/3 innings this year.

It’s the second time in the last month that the Twins have DFA’d Minaya. Assuming he clears waivers, he’ll have the option to elect free agency.

Minaya lost his 40-man roster spot a couple weeks ago but has quickly gained it back. He’ll be used in low-leverage situations.

The move came shortly after the Twins’ lopsided 10-4 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday night. Minaya appeared in that game and walked three of the seven batters he faced. He heads into DFA limbo with an 8.53 ERA on the year. Minnesota will bring up a fresh arm on Wednesday.
