White Sox released INF Lucius Fox.
Fox was signed to a minor league contract in February. The veteran infielder didn’t log an at-bat during spring training and is now free to sign with any team. Fox’s only big league action came in 2022 when he spent 10 games with the Nationals, where he hit .080 while driving in two runs.
  • CWS Shortstop #13
White Sox signed INF Lucius Fox to a minor league contract.
Fox latches on with the White Sox as a versatile utility specialist after being released last September by the Nationals. The 26-year-old got into 10 contests for Washington back in 2022 and played in just 44 contests this past season in the minors due to injury. He’s more of a depth additional than a serious contender to challenge someone like top prospect Colson Montgomery for playing time.
  • WSH Shortstop #13
    Nationals released SS Lucius Fox.
Fox has been cut loose after posting a .619 OPS with three homers and one steal over 44 games this season in the minors. The 26-year-old shortstop got into 10 games for the Nationals during the 2022 campaign.
  • Starting Pitcher #59
Nationals reassigned LHP’s Evan Lee, Francisco Perez and Alberto Baldonado, RHP Tommy Romero, INF’s Lucius Fox, Erick Mejia and OF’s Yasel Antuna and Donovan Casey to minor league camp.
The Nationals first round of cuts from spring training includes several depth relievers, and a useful utility infielder in Lucius Fox, but no major surprises.

  • Shortstop #13
Nationals sent SS Lucius Fox outright to Triple-A Rochester.
It’s a bit of a surprise that Fox passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week, but he’ll remain with the Nationals as organizational middle infield depth. The versatile 25-year-old shortstop got into 10 games last year at the big league level.

  • Shortstop #13
Nationals designated SS Lucius Fox for assignment.
Fox draws the short straw for the Nationals after the club claimed right-hander A.J. Alexy off waivers from the Rangers. The versatile 25-year-old infielder made his big league debut last season, getting into 10 contests for Washington due to injuries. He’s been removed from the club’s 40-man roster and should generate some interest on the waiver wire.

  • Shortstop #13
Nationals optioned INF Lucius Fox to Triple-A Rochester.
Fox became expendable with utility specialist Ehire Adrianza returning to the Nationals’ lineup on Tuesday evening, so he’s been sent back to the minors. The 24-year-old infielder tallied just two hits in 25 at-bats over 10 games this season at the major-league level. He’ll likely get another chance at some point later this summer.

  • Shortstop #13
Nationals optioned INF Lucius Fox to Triple-A Rochester.
Fox went 2-for-25 (.080) with nine strikeouts during his nearly month-long stay with Washington.

  • Shortstop #13
Lucius Fox went 0-for-2 and was picked off after reaching base on a walk Thursday against the Marlins.
It was the first time in 23 plate appearances that he’s reached base this year. Fox also committed an error at shortstop today. It’s time for the Nationals to give Luis Garcia a chance over both Fox and Alcides Escobar.

Lucius Fox was removed from Sunday’s contest against the Giants with an illness.
Fox vomited on the infield grass just two pitches into Sunday’s game. He quickly exited the contest while Riley Adams took over at first base while Maikel Franco shifted to third. It seems to just be an illness for Fox, but it can be a situation to monitor after Mike Yastrzemski tested positive for COVID-19 earlier Sunday.
