Red Sox signed LHP Matt Beech to a minor league contract.
Beech, now 32, went 8-22 with a 5.31 ERA in 53 starts for the Phillies from 1996-98. He’ll join Double-A Trenton or Triple-A Pawtucket after going 3-0 with a 1.79 ERA and an Atlantic League-leading 50 strikeouts in six starts for the Long Island Ducks.
