Ohlman injured the shoulder in a car accident Tuesday when he was driving back from practice. He is scheduled to get a second opinion from team orthopedist Dr. Wilckens on Thursday, but is expected to either opt for rehab or surgery. The 21-year-old batted .224/.320/.307 with four home runs, 51 RBI and a .627 OPS over 105 games with Class-A Delmarva last season.

Ohlman spent a little over a week in the big leagues while filling in for injured catcher Russell Martin. He went 2-for-9 in that span with an RBI and three strikeouts. Ohlman could stick around as minor league depth if he clears waivers.

Ohlman cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and has decided to remain in the organization. He’s gotten a cup of coffee in the majors this season and hit .222/.343/.418 with 12 homers at Buffalo.
