The move removes Miller from the club’s 40-man roster. He’s expected to pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as organizational infield depth for the Red Sox. The 26-year-old saw just one at-bat in his brief stay with the big league club.

Who? Miller wasn’t even in our database prior to Monday’s call-up. The Red Sox are desperate to give Xander Bogaerts a day off and coudn’t bring Deven Marrero back for another week after optioning him on Saturday. Miller has hit .251 this year with 10 RBI and seven steals in 46 games for Pawtucket. This is the 26-year-old’s first stint in the major leagues.

He was optioned to make room for infielder Mike Miller. Cuevas allowed two hits and four walks over 2 2/3 scoreless innings against Texas this weekend. He’ll probably make his way back to Boston later this season.

Miller received just one at-bat in his few days with the big club. He’s no longer needed with Brock Holt back from the disabled list.
