Because of the Cubs’ acquisitions this winter, Mike Sirotka no longer has much of a chance of making the team out of spring training.
Sirotka, who is trying to return after two shoulder surgeries, had been seen as an option in middle relief, but he’s now almost certain to begin the year in the minors. Unless Sirotka makes it to the majors prior to July 1, he can demand his release.
