Zagurski allowed seven earned runs in one inning (two relief appearances) with the Brewers in 2018 before they booted him off their 40-man roster. The 35-year-old southpaw will be organizational relief depth for the Cubs.

Zagurski was creamed for seven runs over one inning of work with the Brewers this season. The 35-year-old southpaw will look to latch on as organization depth somewhere this winter.

The move clears a spot on Arizona’s 40-man roster. Zagurski failed to draw much interest on waivers, despite posting a 2.61 ERA and 9/2 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 innings this spring.

John Gambadoro of 620 KTAR speculated as much earlier Tuesday while adding that struggling reliever Joe Paterson is likely to be demoted to Triple-A Reno. Zagurski has an ugly 6.82 ERA over 37 relief appearances in the majors, but has a strong minor league track record, including a 2.00 ERA and 7/2 K/BB ratio over nine innings at the Triple-A level so far this year.

The left-hander gets the boot to make room on the active roster for Bryan Shaw, who was recalled from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. Zagurski struggled mightily in his 32 appearances with the D’Backs this season, posting a horrifying 6.18 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 26/14 K/BB ratio over 27 2/3 innings.

Zagurski was designated for assignment by the Snakes on Saturday. He apparently drew no interest on waivers.

Zagurksi was designated for assignment only three days ago but the Snakes need him again with Takashi Saito hitting the disabled list because of a hamstring strain. The 29-year-old southpaw has posted a 6.81 ERA in 27 2/3 major league innings this season.

Zagurski posted a 5.54 ERA in 45 appearances with the Diamondbacks last season, and has an average fastball velocity in the mid-90s, according to Fangraphs. The 29-year-old left-hander will compete for a spot on the Pirates’ 25-man roster in spring training.

Zagurski struck out nearly a batter per inning in his 45 appearances for the D’Backs this season but also walked 19 over 37 1/3 frames while posting a 5.54 ERA. However, he’s left-handed and can touch the mid-90s, so he shouldn’t have trouble finding a job elsewhere.
