Here are the starting lineups for Game 3 of the ALDS between the Royals and Astros on Sunday evening in Houston. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET on MLB Network.
ROYALS
SS Alcides Escobar
2B Ben Zobrist
CF Lorenzo Cain
1B Eric Hosmer
DH Kendrys Morales
3B Mike Moustakas
C Salvador Perez
LF Alex Gordon
RF Alex Rios
SP Edinson Volquez
No surprises here. It’s the exact same starting lineup Royals manager Ned Yost used in the first two games of this best-of-five. Salvador Perez, Alcides Escobar, Eric Hosmer, and Ben Zobrist were the big heroes in Friday’s crucial comeback win. The series is 1-1 with the action moving to Houston’s Minute Maid Park.
ASTROS
2B Jose Altuve
RF George Springer
SS Carlos Correa
LF Colby Rasmus
DH Evan Gattis
CF Carlos Gomez
3B Luis Valbuena
1B Chris Carter
C Jason Castro
SP Dallas Keuchel
Carlos Gomez is back in the starting lineup after being limited to a bench role in the first two games of the series due to lingering complications with his intercostal muscle. He strained that muscle in mid-September and that type of injury usually takes a full 4-6 weeks to fully recover from. Gomez did homer in the American League Wild Card Game, so there’s some hope that he can be a difference maker even at less than 100 percent.
