Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio reports that Royals outfielder Alex Gordon has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a labral tear in his left hip. The Royals have recalled outfielder Abraham Almonte from Triple-A Omaha.
Gordon, 34, has dealt with these injuries before, as Vernier notes. Gordon tore the labrum in his right hip in 2009 and had issues with the labrum in his left hip in 2015 when he battled a groin injury.
In 24 plate appearances to start the season, Gordon hit a meager .174/.208/.217.
