The Angels have released right-hander Yoslan Herrera so that he can pursue an opportunity in Japan. He will play for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Japan’s Central League.

Herrera, who turns 34 in April, appeared in 20 games with the Angels last season and posted a 2.70 ERA and 13/9 K/BB ratio over 16 2/3 innings. It was his first stint in the majors since 2008 as a member of the Pirates.

Herrera re-signed with the Angels on a minor league deal in December and was expected to be in major league camp this spring, but he apparently found a better situation overseas.
