The Athletics aren’t likely to give a $15.3 million qualifying offer to shortstop Jed Lowrie, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The club doesn’t have an immediate candidate to fill the void, though they could still bring Lowrie back. Slusser adds that the A’s aren’t likely to match if a team offers Lowrie three years.

Lowrie, 30, saw his offense dip this past season as he finished with a .249/.321/.355 slash line, six home runs, and 50 RBI. He suffered a fractured index finger in August, which may have affected his ability to swing the bat, as he managed just three extra-base hits in the month of September.
