Susan Slusser spoke with the veteran A’s starter. He’s not ready to hang it up yet:

Bartolo Colon tells me he would like to come back to the #Athletics if they give him the opportunity.

Colon tells me he believes he can pitch three more years. Multi-year deal?

I suppose if it’s cheap enough. But really, you go year-to-year with Colon, I figure.

That said, why not bring him back next year? He went 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA this year. Led the league with three shutouts. Ate 190 innings and made the All-Star game. No, he’s not likely to repeat that, but he obviously still has something left in the tank.

You rely on young guys like Sonny Gray to be the future aces, but having Colon around to take the ball almost every fifth day is pretty darn valuable over the course of a 162-game season.
