Daisuke Matsuzaka is three starts into his Mets career and it’s hard to imagine there being a fourth.
He lasted just three innings today against the Braves, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks, and now has a 10.95 ERA overall.
That includes allowing a total of 29 baserunners in 12 innings, which is pretty amazing. Opponents have hit .365 with an .453 on-base percentage and .577 slugging percentage in 64 plate appearances versus Matsuzaka. By comparison, Miguel Cabrera is a career .321 hitter with a .399 on-base percentage and .570 slugging percentage.
And of course because merely having a 10.95 ERA isn’t agonizing enough to watch, Matsuzaka works ridiculously slow on the mound. He pitches like an ugly person with a horrible personality.
