Royals starter Danny Duffy threw one pitch in today’s start against the Yankees and left with an injury. Liam Hendricks came in to relieve him.

Update: Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY reports the initial diagnosis is left shoulder soreness.

Losing Duffy for any amount of time would be a huge blow to the AL Central-leading Royals. Duffy entered the start with a 2.42 ERA over 141 1/3 innings, easily the best in a solid starting rotation. The innings total is by far the most Duffy, 25, has accrued in any of his last five seasons.
