Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings has been out since August 29 with a sore knee and the team announced that he won’t return to play the final week.
Jennings stressed to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times that “it’s gotten better” and he’s no longer worried about the injury long term, but he just ran out of time this season.
He finishes the season hitting .244 with 10 homers, 15 steals, and a .697 OPS in 123 games, falling back to his 2012 production after posting a .748 OPS last season. Jennings, who turns 28 years old next month, will be arbitration eligible for the first time this offseason.
