Overall attendance at Dodger Stadium declined by 18 percent this year and many loyal customers decided they’ve had enough, with Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reporting that the Dodgers’ season ticket base has dropped from 27,000 in 2007 to 17,000 in 2011.
Not surprisingly the Dodgers have decided to lower their ticket prices for next season, cutting the face value on 96 percent of their seats. Eric Stephen of True Blue LA notes that many of the new prices are the ballpark’s lowest in decades.
As part of their effort to lure back those fed up customers the Dodgers will also open the ballpark an hour early next year, allowing season ticket holders to catch batting practice, although given Los Angeles fans’ reputation for showing up late that seemingly won’t be a great draw.
