Drew Hutchison had an encouraging first season back from Tommy John elbow surgery last year and now the Blue Jays have chosen the 25-year-old right-hander to start Opening Day.

Mark Buehrle, who may have seemed like the most obvious choice for an Opening Day assignment, is lined up to start the fourth game of the season--Toronto’s home opener.

Hutchison had an ugly 4.58 ERA in 32 starts last season, but he racked up 184 strikeouts in 185 innings in what was basically his rookie year in addition to being his first full season back after surgery.
