Free agent pitcher Justin Masterson will have a pitching showcase on Monday in Phoenix, Arizona, per MLB Network’s Jon Heyman. Masterson says he is pain-free for the first time in a few years.

Masterson, 31, struggled mightily over the past two seasons, putting up an aggregate 5.88 ERA in 2014 with the Indians and Cardinals, and a 5.61 ERA with the Red Sox last year. The right-hander underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery in September and recently completed an eight-week throwing program.

Though Masterson signed a major league deal for $9.5 million with the Red Sox last year, he will likely have to settle for a minor league deal until he can prove in the regular season that he can pitch effectively.
