Rafael Furcal had a little accident and will miss Sunday night’s game with the Cubs. Tweets Buster Olney:

Rafael Furcal sprained his thumb when bracing a fall, after tripping over a rope near the batting cage here in Wrigley...

Olney didn’t say which thumb. Furcal broke his left thumb and missed six weeks earlier this season. He also missed a month with a strained oblique, and he’s hit just .204/.275/.284 with 26 runs scored in 211 at-bats for the season.

With Furcal out, the Cards have Daniel Descalso playing shortstop and batting eighth tonight. Skip Schumaker is in the leadoff spot.
