Several sources, including Joel Sherman of the New York Post, report that the Rays plan to go after Nationals outfield prospect Steven Souza if they end up trading Wil Myers to the Padres.
Souza was MVP of the International League this year, but the Nationals’ outfield is set with Jayson Werth, Denard Span, and Bryce Harper and he’s almost 26 years old.
Souza hit .350 with 18 homers, 26 steals, and a 1.022 OPS in 96 games at Triple-A and also topped a .900 OPS in 2012 and 2013.
