Right-hander Felipe Paulino has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Red Sox.

Paulino was once a young power with lots of upside, but injuries have repeatedly derailed his career. He missed all of 2013 following Tommy John elbow surgery and struggled in his comeback last season for the White Sox, logging just 18 innings.

Prior to the injuries Paulino had a mid-90s fastball and posted a 3.86 ERA with 172 strikeouts in 177 innings between 2011 and 2012, but at this point he’s just a no-risk flier.
