Blue Jays reliever Joaquin Benoit needed help getting off the field after the second benches-clearing incident with the Yankees during Monday night’s game, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.

It’s unclear what type of injury he suffered, but the Jays should have more on his status later tonight. We’ll pass that information along once it’s made available.

Benoit, 39, struggled with the Mariners, but has turned his season around with the Jays after coming over in the Drew Storen trade on July 26. His stats before and after:

  • with Mariners: 26 games, 24 1/3 innings, 5.18 ERA, 28/15 K/BB, 4 HR
  • with Blue Jays: 25 games, 23 2/3 innings, 0.38 ERA, 24/9 K/BB, 1 HR
