On Sunday afternoon, the Diamondbacks named Mike Hazen the club’s new vice president and general manager. Hazen came from the Red Sox, where he had been GM after Ben Cherington under Dave Dombrowski.

There could be a ripple effect from that hiring. Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports reports that current Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo could follow Hazen to Arizona to become the club’s new manager. The Diamondbacks recently let go of previous manager Chip Hale as part of its shakeup.

Lovullo has been with the Red Sox as a bench coach since 2013. He was the Blue Jays’ first base coach in 2011 and ’12. After the 2014 season, Lovullo was a runner-up in interviews with the Rangers and Twins, who wound up selecting Jeff Banister and Paul Molitor, respectively.
