Troy Tulowitzki collected his 1,000th career hit with a seventh-inning single up the middle with one out in the seventh inning against the Mets on Saturday night. Standing on first base, Tulowitzki tipped his helmet in acknowledgement to the crowd at Coors Field, and signaled that he’d like the baseball to be collected for posterity.

Tulowitzki is 2-for-3 on the night as of this writing. He would be the NL MVP if the season ended today. Including his performance tonight, he is slashing .394/.496/.727 with seven home runs, 25 RBI, and stellar defense at shortstop. FanGraphs rates him as the most valuable player in the National League and just 0.1 WAR below Mike Trout for the MLB lead.
