Triple-A Norfolk’s Raul Gonzalez pulled a calf muscle Wednesday and is expected to miss at least a week.

Gonzalez, who spent most of last year in the minors but was beated out by Eric Valent for a bench job this season, was batting .238 with one homer in 11 games for Norfolk.

Indians signed Raul Gonzalez, 30, to a minor-league contract and sent him to Triple-A Buffalo.

Gonzalez appeared in 18 games with Triple-A Norfolk, batting .262 with no homers and six RBI before being released by the Mets last week. It’d be a surprise if he even saw Cleveland this year.

Cardinals signed outfielder Raul Gonzalez to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Gonzalez hit .310/.346/.491 in 56 games for Triple-A Buffalo last season before his season ended in mid-August with a broken fibula. He’d be an adequate fifth outfielder in the majors, but he’s not going to make the Cardinals.

Gonzalez would be a solid fifth outfielder, but the Mets already have Timo Perez and Tsuyoshi Shinjo as reserves. Strange’s chances of making the team were ruined when he needed surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow.
