Triple-A Norfolk’s Raul Gonzalez pulled a calf muscle Wednesday and is expected to miss at least a week.
Gonzalez, who spent most of last year in the minors but was beated out by Eric Valent for a bench job this season, was batting .238 with one homer in 11 games for Norfolk.

Raul Gonzalez will have his left hand X-rayed today.
Gonzalez was hit by a pitch in the ninth inning of last night’s games. Indications are that it’s nothing serious.

Indians signed Raul Gonzalez, 30, to a minor-league contract and sent him to Triple-A Buffalo.
Gonzalez appeared in 18 games with Triple-A Norfolk, batting .262 with no homers and six RBI before being released by the Mets last week. It’d be a surprise if he even saw Cleveland this year.
  • NYM Outfield
Mets sent outfielder Raul Gonzalez outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Gonzalez is now off the 40-man roster, but he should be called up if any of the Mets’ outfielders need to spend some time on the DL.

Outfielder Raul Gonzalez accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk.
Gonzalez could have elected for free agency.

Cardinals signed outfielder Raul Gonzalez to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Gonzalez hit .310/.346/.491 in 56 games for Triple-A Buffalo last season before his season ended in mid-August with a broken fibula. He’d be an adequate fifth outfielder in the majors, but he’s not going to make the Cardinals.

In his first start of the season after being called up from Triple-A today, Raul Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a home run.
Gonzalez figures to get at least one more start in right field while Roger Cedeno readjusts to the position, but beyond that, it’s unclear what will happen. Wait and see what he does tomorrow before you consider picking him up.

Mets purchased the contract of outfielder Raul Gonzalez from Triple-A Norfolk.
Gonzalez might be a better option as a regular than Roger Cedeno right now, but he probably won’t get many starts in place of Jeromy Burnitz. Take a wait-and-see approach.

Raul Gonzalez had another nice game tonight, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.
The Mets figure to keep penciling Gonzalez into the lineup until he stops hitting. He’s a pretty good short-term pickup in NL-only leagues.

Mets optioned OF Raul Gonzalez, 2B Marco Scutaro, RHP Tyler Walker and RHP Pat Strange to Triple-A Norfolk.
Gonzalez would be a solid fifth outfielder, but the Mets already have Timo Perez and Tsuyoshi Shinjo as reserves. Strange’s chances of making the team were ruined when he needed surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow.
