Rhett Kouba pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts in relief against the Mets on Sunday.
Kouba, one of the Astros’ better pitching prospects, had a 3.45 ERA and a 136/37 K/BB ratio in 128 innings in a 2023 season spent mostly in Double-A. He’ll have a tough time cracking the Houston rotation before the end of the year particularly if Luis García and Lance McCullers Jr. are able to eventually make it back, but he’s someone who could contribute in relief later on.
