Getting his first at-bat of the spring, Roberto Campos hit a go-ahead homer in the bottom of the eighth Monday as the Tigers topped the Blue Jays 4-2.
Campos was a top international signing three years ago, getting nearly $3 million after defecting from Cuba. He made his U.S. debut last year, hitting .228/.316/.441 in 39 games in Rookie ball. He’s still two months away from his 19th birthday, but he should be ready for a full-season league this year.
