Kieschnick

Kieschnick had two singles in just eight at-bats this spring. He batted .255/.307/.429 with 16 homers, 65 RBI, 13 stolen bases and a .737 OPS over 501 plate appearances last season at the Double-A level and will likely need a full year at Triple-A.

He is now protected from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft. Juan Perez is probably the favorite to earn that final spot, but Sabean is intrigued by Kieschnick, who spent his offseason working out with Orioles slugger Chris Davis. The 27-year-old hit .273/.339/.497 with 13 homers and 56 RBI in 101 games at Triple-A Fresno in 2013.

Kieschnick has managed only a .195/.195/.293 batting line across 25 games in the majors this season. Xavier Paul is taking his spot on the roster.

Kieschnick struck out five times and failed to collect a hit in seven plate appearances with the Snakes earlier this season. He’ll be used as a reserve outfielder.

Kieschnick has already had a couple of stints with the D-Backs this year and he’s back now that Gerardo Parra has been traded to the Brewers. The 27-year-old is strictly bench depth and doesn’t figure to be fantasy relevant.

Kieschnick was the odd man out with Mark Trumbo returning from the disabled list. He’ll continue to function as organizational depth in the minor leagues.

Kieschnick was removed from the 40-man roster as the team made a slew of roster moves Saturday. Kieschnick hit just .172 this spring in his bid to earn a bench spot.

Kieschnick had been designated for assignment last weekend but will get to remain in the NL West. He hit .202/.295/.226 in 95 plate appearances last year for the Giants.
