    Giants optioned OF Roger Kieschnick to Triple-A Fresno.
    Kieschnick had two singles in just eight at-bats this spring. He batted .255/.307/.429 with 16 homers, 65 RBI, 13 stolen bases and a .737 OPS over 501 plate appearances last season at the Double-A level and will likely need a full year at Triple-A.
  • Giants purchased the contract of OF Roger Kieschnick from Double-A Richmond.
    He is now protected from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft. Kieschnick, who turns 25 in January, batted .255/.307/.429 with 16 homers, 65 RBI, 13 stolen bases and a .737 OPS over 501 plate appearances this season at the Double-A level. The 2008 third-round pick has good pop from the left side, but his plate discipline continues to be an issue.

    Juan Perez is probably the favorite to earn that final spot, but Sabean is intrigued by Kieschnick, who spent his offseason working out with Orioles slugger Chris Davis. The 27-year-old hit .273/.339/.497 with 13 homers and 56 RBI in 101 games at Triple-A Fresno in 2013.
