Seaton

Seaton had a 3.93 ERA in 169 1/3 innings this past season between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A OKC. He is now protected from next month’s Rule 5 Draft.

He’s now off the 40-man roster. A former third-round pick, Seaton has had an ugly year between Double- and Triple-A this season, posting an 8.18 ERA and 28/26 K/BB ratio over 55 innings. He seems likely to clear waivers.

Seaton was designated for assignment by Houston last week. He has pitched horribly this year in the minors.

Seaton, a third-round pick last year, is 6-4 with a 2.44 ERA, 53 H and 30/11 K/BB in 59 innings as a 19-year-old in the Sally League. His lack of a strikeout pitch could hold him back at higher levels, but he has a quality fastball and a solid change.

It’s been a while since Seaton, 25, was considered much of a prospect. He holds a career 5.01 ERA with just 499 strikeouts over 784 innings in his minor league career.
