Reid

Reid, 27, will be brought back as a six-year minor league free agent. He posted a 3.52 ERA in 46 appearances (three starts) at Triple-A Indianapolis last season.

With Jeanmar Gomez likely to be placed on the DL, Reid will provide bullpen depth. The 28-year old has a 0.52 ERA in 20 appearances at the Triple-A level.

Reid was in the majors for just a few days. He’s been serving as organizational relief depth this year.

Reid was designated for assignment by the Bucs earlier this month despite posting promising numbers between the majors and Triple-A Indianapolis in 2013. He could factor into the Mets’ bullpen mix in 2014.

The 28-year-old pitched well during his brief stint with the Pirates in 2013, posting a 1.64 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 7/3 K/BB ratio in 11 innings of work. There could potentially be other teams willing to give him a shot at a bullpen job.

The move was made in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Kyle Farnsworth. Reid, who had been claimed off waivers from the Pirates back in December, allowed two runs over 11 innings for Pittsburgh last season.

Reid is sporting a 0.60 ERA as a 23/2 K/BB ratio in 15 innings out of the pen in the FSL. It’s doubtful that he’s a future closer, but he’s a solid relief prospect, one capable of advancing quickly if the Rays decide to let him.

Reid received a well-deserved promotion after posting a 0.29 ERA at Single-A Vero Beach. The 22-year-old allowed 13 hits, walked three and struck out 45 in 31 innings. He’s a potential setup man for the Rays.

The 29-year-old spent the 2014 campaign in the Mets organization, compiling a 4.91 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 56/33 K/BB ratio over 69 2/3 innings at Triple-A Las Vegas in the offensive-rich Pacific Coast League. He’s a longshot to crack the Marlins bullpen next season.

Reid gets the boot despite pitching well over the last month for the Pirates, posting a 1.64 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. He’ll return later this summer.
