    Metzler joins the Tigers’ new president of baseball operations Scott Harris to run the club’s amateur and international scouting departments after spending the last 15 seasons with Tampa Bay. He served as the Rays’ senior director of amateur scouting for the last seven seasons, spearheading the club’s annual MLB Draft scouting process.

    According to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press, the Tigers and assistant general manager David Chadd have mutually agreed to part ways.
    Chadd has served as one of the Tigers’ assistant general managers since 2015. He was previously Detroit’s vice president of amateur scouting and has been with the organization since 2005. The two sides have agreed to part ways after reportedly discussing a potential new role within the organization under new president of baseball operations Scott Harris.

    The Tigers have announced the hiring of Scott Harris as their new president of baseball operations.
    ESPN’s Jeff Passan first had the news earlier Monday and now the club has officially announced it. Harris was most recently the Giants’ general manager and had previously been an assistant GM with the Cubs. He’s just 36 years old and is viewed as a rising star in the front office ranks.

    Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Tigers are hiring Giants general manager Scott Harris as their next president of baseball operations.
    Harris will takes over as the primary decision-maker in Detroit after longtime general manager Al Avila was fired last month. He joined the Giants prior to the 2020 campaign and has served as the team’s general manager for the last three seasons under president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi. He previously worked as an assistant general manager with the Cubs under general manager Jed Hoyer.

    Giants announced the hiring of Ron Wotus as a special assistant to baseball operations.
    Wotus returns for a 35th season with the Giants to serve as a mentor to the coaching staff and players throughout the organization. He wrapped up a legendary coaching career, which began in San Francisco back in 1998, at the conclusion of the 2021 campaign. He spent the last four seasons as the team’s first base coach.
