Athletics claimed RHP Tim Harikkala off waivers from the Rockies
Although he struggled at the end of the season, Harikkala was still the Rockies’ second most valuable reliever behind Steve Reed. He is 33, so this is as good as he’s going to get. Still, he shouldn’t have made it all the way to the A’s on waivers. He’ll be given a chance to win a bullpen job in spring training.

Athletics re-signed RHP Tim Harikkala to a one-year, $335,000 contract.
It’s a split contract. Harikkala will receive $100,000 if he begins the year in the minors. Because of Oakland’s recent trades, there’s little chance that he’ll make the team.

Tim Harikkala pitched a perfect inning to pick up his third relief win today.
Harikkala has a 0.73 ERA in 12 1/3 innings this spring, but he’s likely to be a victim of the Rockies’ roster crunch. Because he’s not on the 40-man roster, he could have to wait his turn while pitching for Triple-A Colorado Springs.
